Vance Calls for End to Catch-and-Release, Asylum, Mass Parole

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that a second Trump administration would halt the capture and release of migrants and the granting of asylum.

“There’s been a lot of discussion about Donald Trump’s mass deportations,” host Kristen Welker said. “More than 11 million Americans live in families with mixed immigration statuses, including more than 5 million children. If you or former President Trump were elected, would you separate families as part of mass deportations?”

“It’s important that we do this in the right order. If we want to get our illegal immigration under control, we have to stop the bleeding. We have to start by stopping so many people from coming into the country illegally, and that means undoing everything Kamala Harris did on day one of this administration,” Vance said.

He added, “We must resume deportations, stop capturing and releasing, stop granting asylum and saying people need asylum, and stop granting mass parole. These policies are causing the migration crisis we face. We will focus on solving the problem, but before we solve the problem, we must stop the problem from getting worse.”
