Vance Criticizes Democrats Over Border Security Tactics
Vice President J.D. Vance recently accused Democrats of attempting to drive a halt to the Department of Homeland Security and pressuring President Trump to abandon his border security measures. He expressed his thoughts during an appearance on “My View with Lara Trump,” stating, “It’s become clear that there are no proposals being discussed. They just want to throw a tantrum, hoping the president will give up on border security altogether.”
Vance emphasized the importance of dialogue, saying, “We’re open to discussions about how to streamline immigration law enforcement. But we’re not about to turn our backs on America’s borders.” He also mentioned reaching out to former senators from both parties to better understand what Democrats seek in exchange for ending a government shutdown.
The Vice President indicated that while discussions are welcome, he doubts they will readily agree to many demands from Democrats. “In fact, I asked a few former colleagues in the Senate who have good relationships with Democrats to come to us and clarify what exactly they want for border security to continue,” he remarked.
He also criticized cities led by Democrats that resist working with federal immigration authorities, claiming these localities are contributing to the chaos they often decry. “It’s ironic how these cities, like Minneapolis and Los Angeles, are the ones where deportations seem chaotic,” he noted.
Moreover, Vance asserted that the sanctuary policies in some Democratic states are forcing a more aggressive approach from the federal administration. He stated, “The president has instructed us to keep pursuing our immigration policy, even in places where local authorities are hesitant to cooperate.”
Highlighting the ongoing efforts, Vance added, “We’re seeing a 20% decrease in homicides in 2025, partly due to removing illegal immigrants who’ve committed violent crimes. Our commitment to this will not waver, even if the Democrats try to obstruct our progress.”
