In light of Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham taking a stand for women’s sports, alongside Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, the WNBA’s task committee convened to tackle what it means to be a woman. Unfortunately, they left the meeting without a clear conclusion. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert’s league blamed external “hatred and vitriol” for their failure and decided to schedule another meeting instead. In this segment of Don’t @ Me, Dan Dakich highlights the absurdity as the WNBA continues on its unique path.
Believe it or not, the Vegas Golden Knights are gearing up for their tenth NHL season.
It has been quite the journey. They transformed from the “Golden Misfits” to a beloved team for many fans, and at times, they took on the role of one of the league’s most notorious franchises.
What better way to celebrate the NHL’s 10th anniversary than with a center ice design that’s perfectly reflective of Las Vegas?
Jack Eichel from Las Vegas had a fitting response to the Golden Knights being labeled the NHL’s most hated team.
Honestly, did we expect any different from a team dressed in what looks like a blend of Ice Capades and Medieval Times for their pre-game show?
I personally think the design is pretty cool—though I can imagine it might be challenging to follow the puck with all that going on. Still, I’m curious how social media users will react to it.
Well, maybe your viewpoint is shaped more by your personal interests than I initially realized.
Regardless of opinions, the past nine seasons have been remarkable for the Golden Knights. They’ve established themselves as one of the most successful expansion teams in NHL history.
Of course, they burst onto the scene in 2017-18, making it to the Stanley Cup Finals, although they lost to Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
Fast forward to 2023, and they returned to the Finals, this time defeating the Florida Panthers to secure their first championship.
They did make another attempt this recent season but fell short in six games against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Still, it’s noteworthy that they’ve reached three cup finals in nine years. What’s perhaps even more impressive is their consistent performance; they’ve missed the playoffs only once since the team was established, and even then, they were sitting in fourth place in their division.
Vegas remains a prime destination for numerous free agents and players eyeing trades, and expectations are that the Golden Knights will keep being a strong contender in the league.
