Arrest Made in Fatal Loyola University Chicago Shooting

A 25-year-old man was taken into custody on Thursday in connection with the shooting death of a Loyola University Chicago student. The incident occurred when a masked individual approached the victim near campus, as reported by multiple sources.

The student, Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old from Westchester County, New York, was shot shortly after 1:30 a.m. while walking with a friend along the lakefront in Chicago. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.

According to reports from the Chicago Tribune, which obtained the arrest documents, the suspect has not been publicly named but is said to be an immigrant from Venezuela. Interestingly, the suspect was identified shortly after the shooting due to an “apparent limp,” as noted in the records.

Loyola University Chicago President Mark C. Reed expressed his sorrow in a letter to students, confirming Gorman’s death. “It is with deep sadness that I write to share that one of our students, Sheridan Gorman, was murdered earlier today,” Reed stated. He called it a tragic loss and extended condolences to Gorman’s family, friends, and others who knew her.

This situation is still developing, and more updates are expected as details emerge.
