According to reports, a murder investigation in Florida related to Torren de Aragua began late last year, when authorities began investigating a former Venezuelan police officer for allegedly inciting two women to kill him.

The victim, Jose Luis Sanchez, was lured by the women to a hotel near the Miami airport, where he was robbed and murdered by suspected gang members.
