ICE Makes Arrests of Illegal Immigrants with Criminal Histories
On Monday, agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained several illegal immigrants, labeled by Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin as “really sick people.”
A press release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which was exclusively accessed by Blaze News, stated that ICE recently apprehended five illegal immigrants nationwide.
Mullin emphasized, “We will not allow criminal illegal aliens to roam freely in our communities and terrorize innocent Americans.”
The released information highlighted that these individuals had convictions for serious offenses like voluntary manslaughter, indecent assault of a child, and attempted statutory rape, among other severe crimes.
DHS pointed out that nearly 70% of arrests made by ICE involve illegal aliens who already have criminal charges or convictions.
Among those arrested was Rodolfo Sanchez, a Mexican national previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter and burglary in Houston, Texas.
ICE agents also detained Jose Rivera Horta, 56, originally from Cuba, who had been convicted of indecent assault against a child aged between 12 and 15 in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
In addition, federal agents arrested Jacobo Pablo Ramirez, a Guatemalan illegal immigrant with a history of attempted statutory rape of a child in Duplin County, North Carolina.
Daniel Garces-Flores, another illegal immigrant from Mexico, was captured by ICE; he had a conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Hidalgo County, Texas.
Derekson Lett, an illegal alien from Grenada, was also detained. He had been convicted of robbery in Staten Island, New York. Notably, in 2015, Lett allegedly attempted to rob a prostitute and subsequently was shot by an accomplice. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Mullin reiterated his concerns, stating, “Yesterday, ICE arrested some truly sick people, including murderers, pedophiles, sex offenders, and thugs. Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens who have been charged or convicted of crimes in the United States. We will not allow criminal illegal aliens to roam freely in our communities and terrorize innocent Americans.”
