Victor Marx Wins Colorado Republican Gubernatorial Primary
Marine Corps veteran Victor Marx triumphed in Colorado’s Republican gubernatorial primary, edging out Senator Barbara Kirkmeyer and state Representative Scott Bottoms. The contest, finalized by the Associated Press on Thursday, revealed that Kirkmeyer was a close second, while Bottoms placed significantly behind.
Marx expressed gratitude towards his supporters, saying, “Thank you, Colorado. Thanks to your time, knocking on doors, making phone calls, and your belief in something bigger than politics, we won the Republican nomination for governor.”
In his book, Marx notes, “As the founder of All Things Possible Ministries, I have led over 150 high-stakes missions in some of the world’s most dangerous regions, providing trauma relief and medical aid.” He also shares a troubling childhood memory, detailing a traumatic event involving his stepfather.
Kirkmeyer acknowledged the close nature of the race, stating, “We are grateful to all the voters who placed their trust in us…and for the record, I haven’t killed anyone yet.” It was an odd remark, perhaps an attempt at humor, but it added an interesting twist to her statement.
Now, the Democratic candidate, Attorney General Phil Weiser, voiced strong opposition to Marx, claiming his views diverge significantly from those held by Coloradans. He labeled Marx’s nomination a potential threat to the state’s values and future.
Interestingly, Colorado hasn’t seen a Republican governor since 2002, making the upcoming election even more pivotal.
