Vice President JD Vance Hits the Range with Fellow Marines at Quantico

Quantico Marine Corps Base, Va. — Vice President J.D. Vice President Vance proved the phrase “Once upon a Marine, always a Marine” when he visited Quantico Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia on Wednesday.

During his visit, he made remarks to the approximately 750 Marines who gathered to greet him, served butterflies in the confusion hall, ate lunch with their small group, and tested some new weapons in range.

Vance had to test the M27 5.56 infantry attack rifle. This means that all Marines must qualify for annual qualifying, with the M107 .50 caliber niper rifle, and the M240B machine gun. He also tested the drone system and fired the M101 105mm Howitzer.

He joked with X: “Become a VP and shoot a machine gun with the Marines. Not a bad gig!”

In his remarks, he spoke about the Trump administration's goals for the military — removing diversity allocations and reconstructing the country's ability to produce state-of-the-art military equipment again.

“Under President Trump's leadership, we believe in very simple principles. We don't care where you come from. We don't care what skin color you are. We care about excellence, we care about patriotism,” he said.

There is no better quota. There is no more diversity training. I believe that true strength and true diversity in the US Marines is that you come from all your lives, come from every corner of America, and that you have the power and purpose to win wars in the country.

He said the Trump administration will invest more than $1 trillion to build manufacturing bases and ensure that if the US military goes to war they will be equipped with “the world's best weapons.”

He also sent a message from Trump to the Marines.

“He wanted me to tell you two things. Firstly, he loves you, and secondly, he is proud of you,” he said.

Vance added a personal note. “So I just wanted to say from the bottom of my heart, from one Marine to another, because I know how big the part of the Marines is in my life and how important it is to me.

Before he arrived, the Marines expressed their excitement to meet him.

Marine Corps Head Lance Cor Jacob Parker told Daily Wire that he was “like hell” when he learned that the vice president was a former Marine.

“I have a lot of motivation in my body, I go through my veins,” he added.

Marines Lance Corporal Casey Bonestroo told The Daily Wire:

At the end of the day, becoming a Marine is becoming a Marine. We all went through the boot camp. We all went through the same thing. We are extremely motivated to know that there is a leader in the White House who has been in our shoes and has experienced the same things we have experienced. ”

“I knew at the end of the day he was willing to taint the same things as our country. So, at the end of the day, the fact that he was coming is amazing taking the time to talk to us.

Previously, Vance joked that he would never be high enough to serve at Quantico, so he wanted to run for Vice President.

“As a proud member of the E-4 Mafia, I never reached Quantico myself, but that's one of the reasons why I want to be Vice President. I thought it was time for the Colonel and the General to hear cooperation for cooperation. How's that sound?”

Vance served as a combat correspondent for four years with the Marines, including Iraq. He believes that this service taught him “how to live like an adult.”

He wrote in his memoirs, Hillbilly Elegy“It was the Marines that first gave me the opportunity to really fail, and they let me take that opportunity, and when I failed, they gave me another chance anyway.”

The Marines are the only organization in the Department of Defense to pass audits and achieve recruitment targets for several years while others struggled. However, recruitment for other services has begun to increase in the past few months, especially after the 2024 presidential election.
