Victor Davis Hanson Considers What Biden's Close Advisors Might Reveal If Testifying Under Oath

Investigation into Biden Administration’s Autopen Usage

Victor Davis Hanson, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institute, expressed interest on Thursday in whether lawmakers might testify about the use of autopen within former President Joe Biden’s inner circle.

Republican House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer revealed on Wednesday that interviews are being sought from five former White House officials regarding Biden’s health. During a conversation on The Victor Davis Hanson Show, Jack Fowler pointed out a comment from White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, who suggested that former First Lady Jill Biden should clarify her role in the administration.

“It would be fascinating to see them under oath discussing the autopen’s use,” Hanson remarked. “They could argue that, ‘Well, Joe was there, and he approved it,’ but it definitely raises questions.”

In a press conference on May 29, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy prompted Leavitt to consider if former lawmakers ought to testify about Biden’s perceived decline. Leavitt responded by implying that Jill Biden was involved in a cover-up.

Hanson noted, “I don’t think they’ll get much information from her, as she claims a spouse exemption and might not effectively testify against him.” He also referenced a secret service whistleblower who mentioned Joe Biden being stuck in a closet, saying, “I didn’t know. My closet isn’t that big.”

Comer has called on former Chief of Staff Ron Klain, senior adviser Anita Dunn, former advisor Mike Donilon, and others to participate in the interviews.

Following this announcement, former President Donald Trump ordered an investigation into who was really in charge during the Biden administration and the autopen’s role in official documents.

The memorandum mandates looking into multiple enforcement actions taken during Biden’s last year, assessing the validity of the autopen and the signed policy documents related to it.

Since the investigation began, Biden has been vocal about using autopens, labeling the notion that he doesn’t make key decisions on executive orders as “ridiculous.”

Concerns about Biden’s cognitive health have long been raised by Republicans, especially after CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson published their book, Original Sin.

In their interviews, they reported that after the 2020 election, Biden’s mental health was so concerning that there were discussions about whether he might need a wheelchair.

Comer sent a letter to Biden’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, along with four former senior aides on May 22, asking for testimony regarding the administration’s health communications.
