Victor Davis Hanson, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, shared recently that he is on the mend after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
The 72-year-old Hanson, well-known as an author, academic, and conservative commentator, had previously revealed in December that he would need significant surgery following concerning biopsy results. He mentioned it was a “serious issue” but kept the specifics private. On Saturday, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice provided an update on his condition.
“I wanted to share a quick health update. I recently had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and am currently recovering. I am doing well and have hope moving forward,” spoke Hanson.
In thanking supporters, he added, “Thank you for all the messages of support and prayers. They truly mean more to me than words can express. As I focus on my recovery, I may not be able to respond to everyone, but please know how grateful I am.”
The operation took place last Tuesday, and in the meantime, co-host Jack Fowler will manage “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words” until Hanson is ready to return.
Many people have shown their support to Rice’s post, sending prayers and good wishes. Hanson had mentioned before the surgery that he preferred not to discuss “my own issues,” but acknowledged that others noticed he appeared unwell or that his voice sounded different.
“It’s been a nine-month journey. The problem I had was very difficult to diagnose, so it’s no one’s fault. After a biopsy and various tests, I’m fine. At least, I think I owe all of my readers and listeners a great letter, so I’m going to do my best for everyone,” he commented.
Hanson has authored multiple articles and books, including the bestseller “The Case for Trump,” and has contributed various opinion pieces for Fox News Digital.
