Victor Hanson Slams ABC Moderators’ ‘Shameless Bias’ in Trump-Harris Debate

ABC hosts David Muir and Lindsay Davis “ruined the debate, their own reputations, and the network's brand” by displaying “shameless bias” during Tuesday's Trump vs. Harris showdown, according to world-renowned military historian Dr. Victor Davis Hanson. He likened the “three-on-one mob attack” to CNN's Candy Crowley “hijacking” the 2012 presidential debate and inaccurately fact-checking Mitt Romney in an attempt to defend Barack Obama.

In a widely viewed post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Hanson highlighted the “shameful role” of Muir and Davis and accused them of repeatedly fact-checking Trump while allowing Harris to utter “old lies” without verifying them, particularly about abortion and Charlottesville.

Hanson said the debate “will be remembered as a bitter three-to-one dispute, given the ABC's unprofessional and biased team of presenters.”

“Far from denying pre-debate concerns that past anti-Trump bias would skew the debate, they have only confirmed those concerns,” he argued.

Hanson compared the incident to CNN's Candy Crowley's infamous false fact-checking during a 2012 debate between then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney and opponent Barack Obama, and said ABC hosts had hurt their careers by interrupting the debate with partisan leanings.

During that debate, Crowley was seen to have stepped in to save Obama, who got the Benghazi attack wrong with an inaccurate fact-check. Similarly, during Wednesday's debate, Hanson noted, the moderator repeatedly interrupted Trump to fact-check his remarks but did not dispute Harris' claims.

“Both of them disrupted the pace of fact-checking (and sometimes mis-checking) Trump's statements, while simultaneously highlighting Harris's criticisms of Charlottesville, IVF, the national abortion ban, “bloodbaths” and the “sunshine.” [Project] “The 2025 lie is unchecked,” he said.

“Many of their obstructive fact-checks of Trump are simply wrong,” he added, “such as their absurd claim that no state allows partial-birth or late-term abortions of viable fetuses, when at least six states have no restrictions on abortion whatsoever.”

Hanson also explained that the hosts posed provocative questions to Trump while avoiding questioning Harris about her past controversies or comments.

The questions posed to Trump on January 6 were intended to be provocative. Questions posed to Harris had no counterparts, such as whether she would distance herself from Biden, how she won the nomination without winning any elected delegates, whether she was the last person in the room about her Afghanistan boast, or whether she would walk back from past inflammatory statements, such as her boasting that the deadly protests of 2020 would not and should not stop, her tweets about bailing out violent mobs in 2020, her lies about Border Patrol whipping migrants in a manner reminiscent of slavery and the KKK, or her boasting that she was a woke extremist.

He also noted that while Harris was not reprimanded for interrupting Trump, Trump was repeatedly warned to stay on topic, something Harris “rarely did.”

Hanson suggested the presenters' “unabashed bias” could “create sympathy for Trump”, and concluded: “The real problem is that ABC's presenters have ruined the debate, their own reputations and the network's brand.”

The issue was raised by Vice President Kamala Harris during Tuesday's presidential debate. make There were numerous false claims, many of which were not verified by the ABC hosts who frequently fact-checked Trump, and even Muir. Strange fact check It's a joke the 45th president once told.

Blatant bias from moderators Attention Disney executive Dana Walden is a close friend of ABC News chief Kamala Harris, and some have suggested Walden may have influenced the debate.

July, Hanson Called Following the assassination attempt, he strongly criticized left-wing rhetoric that has normalized violence against Trump, and criticized the “pathology” of the left.
