Victor Robles Suspended for Bat Throwing Incident

Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles has been suspended for 10 games following an incident during a minor league rehabilitation assignment. This occurred while he was playing for the Tacoma Rainiers in the Pacific Coast League.

During a game against the Las Vegas Aviators, Robles threw his bat toward the mound after a pitch from Joey Estes came in high and inside. The bat unintentionally made contact with the ball, prompting a frustrated reaction from Robles as he turned around the catcher.

The MLB announced the suspension on Tuesday. Mariners’ president Jerry Dipoto spoke to the media ahead of the team’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, where he addressed the situation.

Robles took to Instagram on Monday to express his regrets. “I want to sincerely apologize for my recent reaction on the field,” he wrote. He acknowledged that his actions affected the game’s energy and showed a lack of respect, something he tried hard to uphold.

He also mentioned how challenging the season had been for him, particularly with a long rehab process following an injury and coping with the recent passing of his mother. “It’s been tough, and I’m trying to hold it together,” he added.

The suspension will kick in once Robles is back on the team’s active roster, meaning he won’t be able to play in any games, including further rehabilitation assignments in the minors.

Robles is reportedly contesting this disciplinary action.
