Residents Weigh In on Trump’s Law Enforcement Strategy in D.C.
This week, many residents in Washington, D.C., expressed support for President Donald Trump’s plan to bring federal law enforcement into the district. The conversation, captured by Blaze News National Correspondent Julio Rosas, revealed mixed reactions. Some individuals preferred to remain anonymous, yet even those hesitant to openly support Trump acknowledged that local officials have not effectively addressed crime rates.
A local hairdresser, who has lived in D.C. for 15 years, shared her thoughts: “I think that’s a good thing. People feel they can’t go about their daily lives without looking over their shoulders. It’s hard for society to thrive when there’s unpredictability.” She supported the idea of federal intervention.
Another resident, an older Black woman, voiced her frustration about safety in the city. “Crime is outrageous,” she stated, adding with a hint of laughter that she didn’t believe the local government was doing enough to tackle public safety concerns.
In stark contrast, one man openly opposed the federalization of law enforcement. “I don’t agree with Trump on anything. He’s just a crazy man. It’s all wrong!” he exclaimed. When questioned about the crime rate in D.C., he dismissed concerns, stating that he never felt threatened walking down the street. “You don’t need a lot of police. People know how to behave if they want to,” he asserted.
Another resident, choosing not to be filmed, lamented the rising crime reports she encounters in the news, emphasizing the need for change. “It’s terrible. Every day there are reports of killings and carjackings. That’s not acceptable!” she stated emphatically.
In another conversation, left-wing protesters reacted strongly to Rosas, expressing disdain for prominent conservative figures. When he mentioned Glenn Beck, they responded with anger, showing a clear divide in perspectives. One activist characterized Beck as a right-wing propagandist, while another challenged Rosas’ viewpoint on race and politics.
Amid these discussions, a woman who preferred to remain anonymous mentioned her neutral stance on Trump’s actions but expressed a desire for measures that effectively reduce crime. “I just want things to get better. I love this city,” she said passionately.
