Jameela Jamil Critiques Britain and the U.S.
Jameela Jamil, an actress who identifies as “queer,” has shared her views on the current state of Britain and America, calling the situation “messed up” and describing ongoing tensions as a “race war.” She attributes much of this turmoil to former President Donald Trump’s influence.
During an appearance on the pop culture podcast Yesterday Gay, hosted by Justin Sylvester and Blakely Tonton, the discussion shifted to Trump’s presidency, Brexit, and their impacts. When asked how she feels being in America at this time, Jamil reminded listeners that she has resided in the U.S. for a decade, arriving before Trump’s first inauguration.
“I’ve witnessed this country’s ups and downs,” she remarked, emphasizing that she believes the current climate is more daunting than in the past, particularly regarding Trump’s second term.
She went on to express her critical views on England, laughing as she stated, “England is messed up too. It doesn’t feel like a safe haven. There’s literally a race going on.” Jamil argued that the decline of Western society began with Brexit, asserting, “Brexit has paved the way for chaos in America.”
Later in their conversation, she labeled the British populace as “truly the most evil people in history” and touched on the perception that Brits are considered polite by Americans. “It’s wild because the British are really the most evil people in history. They are like Thanos. Britain owes India 43 trillion pounds for colonizing the world,” she added.
Jamil has a history of mental health struggles, having openly discussed her battles with depression, OCD, and an eating disorder, noting a suicide attempt in 2013. She has faced various health issues as well, including congenital hearing loss and other serious ailments, undergoing multiple surgeries as a child. Currently, she has reduced hearing ability in both ears. Jamil publicly came out as queer in 2020.
