Video captures California police shooting armed McDonald's employee inside the restaurant

A California McDonald’s employee was shot and killed by police after he shot a coworker. The incident occurred on August 24, around 9:30 a.m., when the Lodi Police Department received a call about an armed individual in the restaurant’s storage area.

Inside the establishment, the suspect, Jonhatan Anguiano, was seen brandishing a firearm near two other employees. In the footage, he pulls a gun from his backpack and fires shots towards the ceiling.

During this time, the two coworkers continued to communicate with him while a 911 call was made. When the police arrived, they began evacuating employees through the back of the restaurant. As they approached, they heard gunfire and discovered that one employee had been shot.

As the injured employee lay on the floor, an officer opened fire on Anguiano, hitting him. Thankfully, no officers were harmed during the event.

After the shooting, emergency crews were called, and Anguiano was pronounced dead at the scene. The coworker who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital but was later released to recover. She initially received paid leave but has since returned to work.

Currently, authorities have not disclosed any motive for Anguiano’s actions, and the investigation is ongoing.

Lodi is situated in San Joaquin County, roughly 35 miles south of Sacramento. Efforts to reach the local police department for further updates on the motive have not received a response.
