Controversy Surrounds Shane McAnally’s Comments on His Child
Grammy-winning country artist Shane McAnally has ignited backlash due to his reaction when his young son expressed a desire for “mama.”
In a video, McAnally asks his son, “Who do you want? Dada or pop?” The child responds, “Mom.” Laughing, McAnally then says, “I don’t have a mom.” The person filming chuckles, following up with, “Do you want dada or pop?” The boy insists again, “Mommy.”
McAnally laughs, but with a hint of frustration, responds, “No way, Jose! There’s no mommy,” and reassures his crying child, saying, “You have a daddy or a pop. There’s no mommy.”
This video, which includes the text “My baby has two fathers…I chose neither,” has gone viral, causing significant outrage online.
Responses have ranged from disbelief to anger. One user remarked, “Terrible, this shouldn’t be allowed to happen. Poor kid has no chance.” Another commented, “This is heartbreaking.” Others expressed similar sentiments, using phrases like “This is sickening” and “Where is this child’s mother?”
One user even stated that “homosexual men should accept their decision not to have children because they do not want women,” suggesting that they shouldn’t pursue surrogacy.
Another individual called for the baby to be “returned to its mother immediately,” and some expressed concerns about the ethics of surrogacy and adoption by same-sex couples.
In a separate video, McAnally and his husband Michael Boehm were seen laughing after a woman off-camera asked which of the two men was “hotter.”
Since the controversy, McAnally has made his Instagram account private.
Reports indicate that the couple has three children born via surrogacy.
