Chicago Authorities Seek Four Individuals After Fatal Assault

Authorities are on the lookout for four individuals seen on security footage outside a bar in Chicago’s trendy Avondale neighborhood. This comes in the wake of a tragic incident last month where a 25-year-old business owner, pregnant with her second child, was brutally murdered in the same area.

On March 25, around 3:20 a.m., emergency responders discovered Alexander “Xander” Kazanovsky unresponsive in Avondale after bar staff asked him to leave due to comments he made. Following his exit, he reportedly engaged in a confrontation with a group of individuals outside, resulting in him being found in dire condition. He later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Homicide detectives have released surveillance video featuring the four individuals they are trying to identify. The footage shows three Black men and an Asian woman, prompting authorities to ask the public, “Do you recognize any of these?”

Authorities stated that Kazanovsky’s injuries were “consistent with a fatal beating.” In an effort to gather more information, Crime Stoppers has announced a $10,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest in this case.

As of now, no one has stepped forward with information. Security footage also reveals the four individuals entering the Tune Up Bar on the night the incident occurred, though it remains unclear if the recording was taken before or after the assault.

Avondale, which has historically been home to a large Polish community, was notably ranked the 5th coolest neighborhood in the world by a London-based magazine in 2025, surpassing cities like New York, Miami, and Austin.

This neighborhood is quite different from the more crime-prone areas on the city’s south side, which have struggled with gun violence for many years.

Kazanovsky had started a home remodeling business named Wurk and was also building a modeling portfolio, focusing on weddings and bridal shoots. His obituary described him as someone full of creative energy and ambition, always living life to the fullest.

His partner, Tori Zanoni, is currently pregnant with their second child. She paid tribute to Kazanovsky in an Instagram post, reminiscing about their time together and expressing how deeply missed he will be.

Leaving behind Zanoni and their daughter, Thea, the couple’s second child is expected to be named John. A GoFundMe page to support their family has successfully raised over $15,000.
