Video shows California squatter attack mailman

A California community is up in arms after a beloved mail carrier was allegedly attacked by a career criminal. The suspect is known to many because of several confrontations with residents in the Gardena area of ​​Los Angeles.

Bruce Jennings, a father of three who has worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 20 years, was attacked on February 21st.

Surveillance camera footage shows a man approaching Jennings from behind and delivering a vicious punch to the unsuspecting postman. The video shows the postman trying to defend himself as he is continuously assaulted by the suspect.

“I’m dropping emails, but it was a defensive mode for me at that point,” Jennings explained.

Jennings said. KTTV“I feared for my life. From then on, I protected myself as best I could.”

The suspect is reportedly 39-year-old John Ross.

KABC The suspect has a “decades-long criminal history, including assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.”

“The whole community knows this guy and they know him by his first and last name, John Ross,” neighbor Garrett Rodriguez said.

Jennings said Ross was upset that there was no package for him. Ross allegedly asked the suspect to deliver a package to a vacant house that the suspect was allegedly occupying illegally.

Ross was reportedly arrested last week for breaking into another home in the neighborhood. He is being held without bail.

Christine Kojuran said Ross was caught on video stealing patio furniture from her backyard in January.

“We’ve been trying to get John Ross out of our neighborhood for quite some time,” said local resident Carol Nishijima. “He grew up here and has been breaking and entering people’s homes since he was young. “I was there,” he said.

The community is furious that no charges have reportedly been filed against Ross for assaulting a beloved postman.

“We have high-definition video footage of the incident as it occurred,” Rodriguez said. “I know the suspect’s name. [The Postal Service] He said it was still under consideration. It may seem like they are fighting each other. That doesn’t make sense. ”
