Houston police are investigating. death of infant He was accidentally run over by an Uber driver who was dropping off his family.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the Uber driver was dropping off a family at the Greenbrier at Bayou Apartments on Waverly Drive around 1 p.m.
Surveillance video showed two adults and a child exiting a gray Volkswagen SUV before the toddler appeared in front of the vehicle. The Uber driver apparently didn’t notice the girl and drove off, hitting her. The child was crushed under the car.

The family immediately attacked the man and dragged him out of the car. Witnesses rushed to help the child.
“I saw a baby bleeding on the ground with so many people screaming. The first thing I said was, I don’t want to keep the ambulance waiting, so give me the keys.” said the man who didn’t want it. Identified.
The girl was taken to HCA Kingwood Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
“There was blood in the car, blood on the side of the car. I tried to save her, but I don’t want her to go away,” the neighbor continued. “No one wanted that to happen, no one wanted to hurt a child.”
The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Gonzalez said.
Police identified the driver as Muhammad Khan and said they were coordinating with the investigation. Mr Khan also showed no evidence of impairment.
Uber released Statement regarding the incident.
“The details of what has been reported are heartbreaking and our thoughts go out to the victim’s family. While the investigation is ongoing, we will cut off access to the driver’s home and ensure that police as soon as possible We are standing by to assist,” the statement said. ”
No charges have yet been filed against the family or Khan, but police said they were continuing to investigate the incident.

Many critics on social media accused the family of leaving the toddler unattended when they got out of the car.
The toddler was two months away from his second birthday.
