Two passengers on a Colorado Springs transit bus managed to take the wheel when the driver suffered a medical emergency.
Video footage released Oct. 18 showed the chaotic scene as it unfolded for those riding on a bus in Colorado Springs last week. The beloved bus driver that had befriended many of the passengers suffered a medical episode and fell right out of his seat, sending the bus careening out of control, according to KRDO News. In a scene that unfolded like it was straight out of a “Seinfeld” episode, two quick-thinking passengers rose to the occasion, saving countless others from being injured — or worse.

The video showed two passengers on the bus as they realized something was very wrong and quickly raced to the front of the bus.
One of the passengers managed to gain control of the steering wheel and immediately grabbed a radio to call for help as he somehow managed to safely bring the bus to a stop.
“He saved this from being an even more tragic event,” Mountain Metro Transport’s Elaine Sheridan said according to KRDO News.
“I mean, a bus out of control, you know, on the street, there was, you know, nobody stopping it. Cars on the road, pedestrians on the road, buildings alongside the road,” Sheridan continued
“Seinfeld” fans surely noticed the resemblance between this real-life story and ‘The Heckler & The Bus Ride” episode in which Kramer took over the steering wheel of a bus after the driver was unable to maintain control.
“I get behind the wheel, now I’m driving the bus,” Kramer said in the episode, as he explained how he overtook a mugger on the transit bus before jumping in to steer the passengers to safety. Kramer went on to explain how he saved the day and managed to control the bus and the mugger, as well as get a severed toe delivered to a hospital.
The real-life officers at the Mountain Metro Transport didn’t have to manage any of Kramer’s wild stories, but they did acknowledge that their real-life situation could have ended far differently, had it not been for the good Samaritans. They are now searching for the man who took control of the bus and the man who assisted him in order to reward them both.
“We want to make sure that they ride a bus free for a long time, any time they want to ride it for us, we want to make sure that they get the acknowledgment,” Sheridan said. (RELATED: Jerry Seinfeld Admits He Wasn’t Happy With The ‘Seinfeld’ Finale)
“The City wants to acknowledge them. We want to get them gifts. We want to give them, you know, rides,” she said.
The heroes have not yet been identified.
