Video Shows Taiwan Nurses Grabbing Incubators To Save Newborns During Earthquake

At least 9 people killed, over 1,000 injured in Taiwan earthquake

Surveillance camera footage from a Taiwanese hospital has surfaced online, showing nurses in a neonatal ward bravely rushing to protect babies in incubators during a recent earthquake. Video shows the quick actions of nurses clinging to neonatal beds to keep babies safe during the shaking.

The video shows dramatic scenes in the maternity ward. As the building began to shake, four staff members jumped to their feet. Their priorities are clear. It’s to protect vulnerable newborns. In their scramble to stabilize the cage, they turn to a nearby window, which could be a source of flying debris that could put the baby at risk. BBC.

Social media was filled with videos and images from around the island shared by people who had experienced the earthquake.

In one clip, a man struggles to get out of a rooftop pool as the water swirls violently. In another photo, a webcam captured three cats running wild as the apartment shook from side to side.

A massive earthquake struck Taiwan on Wednesday, killing at least nine people, injuring more than 1,000, damaging dozens of buildings, and spreading tsunami warnings to Japan and the Philippines before being lifted.

Dozens of people were believed to be safe in areas separated by massive landslides caused by the earthquake, but they could not be reached and many were trapped in tunnels that cut through the mountains that divide the island into north and south.
