Vikings rookie JJ McCarthy out for 2024 NFL season following meniscus surgery

Minnesota Vikings first-round draft pick JJ McCarthy will miss his entire rookie season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn right meniscus.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell announced Wednesday that the surgery was successful, but doctors determined the injury “needs to be repaired, meaning JJ will be out for the 2024 season.”

So rather than simply having it trimmed during surgery, McCarthy needed a full repair that would require extensive rehabilitation in order to return to the field.

This is an ongoing story, more to come.
