Teen Takeover at Florida Amusement Park Leads to Injuries

In a chaotic scene over the weekend, several sheriff’s deputies were injured during a disturbance involving over 1,000 teenagers who converged on a Florida amusement park as part of a planned event.

This incident occurred at Icon Park in Orlando on Saturday evening. Reports suggest that word of the gathering began circulating online, drawing numerous teens to the venue.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, there were multiple fights among the teens, which required intervention from law enforcement to restore order.

Authorities arrested nine teenagers, aged 13 to 16, on various charges including trespassing, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer. Thankfully, the injured deputies are expected to recover; two were taken to the hospital but have since been released.

The Sheriff’s Office had already been made aware of potential activities at Icon Park that evening and had deployed several deputies in anticipation of the large crowd.

Witness Virgil Goodson recounted: “There were a lot of teenagers flooding into the streets. Some were being pursued by the sheriff’s office, and it looked chaotic in parts, though in other areas, the teens seemed to be just wandering around.”

He also noted a moment of panic when many began fleeing the park, creating confusion about whether there was an active shooter situation. Several individuals sought refuge in nearby businesses out of concern.

Following the incident, Icon Park has implemented a new chaperone policy. Moving forward, minors under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult guardian aged 21 or older to enter and remain at the park. Additionally, a single adult can supervise up to six minors. The park has advised guardians that they may be held legally accountable for the actions of the minors they supervise.
