A violent confrontation erupted Monday afternoon near the University of California, Berkeley, just before a Turning Point USA event featuring Dr. Frank Turek and Rob Schneider, part of the “This Is The Turning Point” tour.
This incident unfolded merely two months after TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk was killed during a campus event in Utah on September 10.
The clash began around 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Eyewitnesses reported seeing two men engaged in a brawl, with one suffering from a significant facial injury.
Footage captured by Fox News Digital depicted a crowd of protesters gathering around the altercation. Many were wearing keffiyehs and holding signs with leftist slogans.
Local law enforcement struggled to manage the situation, as some protesters donned shield masks and carried batons.
The extent of injuries is still unclear at this time. The Berkeley Police Department informed Fox News Digital that as of 6 p.m. local time, at least two individuals had been arrested.
A police spokesperson mentioned, “We do not have specific details about the purpose of the arrests,” but confirmed that one person was taken into custody on suspicion of assault.
A representative from the University of California, Berkeley clarified that the altercation did not take place on campus, offering no additional details.
In a conversation with Fox News Digital last week, Dr. Frank Turek discussed the event and expressed his wish to attend it, emphasizing Berkeley’s progressive stance.
“If I could attend one event with him, it would be that one,” Turek remarked, citing the need to present evidence supporting the truth of Christianity in a liberal environment.
After the event concluded, protesters blocked all exits, yelling insults and heckling participants as they attempted to leave.
