Virgin Atlantic flight makes emergency landing in latest plane mishap this week

A Virgin Atlantic plane flying from Florida to Scotland reported problems mid-flight on Wednesday, prompting emergency rescue teams to scramble to free the aircraft.

Numerous ambulances and firefighters surrounded the runway at Edinburgh Airport as flight VS226 landed at around 11am local time after the pilot warned they needed landing assistance, Edinburgh Live reported.

The plane suffered a front nose gear rupture shortly after taking off from Orlando on Tuesday night.
Virgin Atlantic later confirmed the issue was related to tyre pressure.

A Virgin Atlantic spokesman said: “As a precautionary measure, flight VS226 from Orlando to Edinburgh has requested engineers to wait upon landing due to low nose gear tyre pressure.”

“The safety of our customers and crew is always our number one priority and the aircraft landed normally.”
