Investigation into Actor Stewart MacLean’s Disappearance Turns to Murder

Authorities have transitioned the case of TV actor Stewart MacLean, who was reported missing, into a murder investigation. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Squamish, British Columbia, announced on Thursday that they had discovered evidence indicating that MacLean may have been murdered.

The RCMP reported, “Squamish RCMP began an investigation and through their investigative efforts uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe that Mr. MacLean was the victim of a homicide.”

As of May 20, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken charge of the case, collaborating with the Squamish RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to delve deeper into the investigation.

MacLean was officially listed as missing on May 18, with police initiating their search the following day. The 45-year-old actor was last seen at his home in Lions Bay on May 15, according to the information provided.

On May 22, the Lions Bay Search and Rescue team shared a message expressing sympathy for MacLean’s family. They stated, “Lions Bay Search and Rescue extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and community members affected by this tragic loss.”

MacLean, known for his roles in series like Netflix’s “Virgin River,” “Arrow,” “Happy Face,” and “Small Town Murders,” also worked as a producer on projects such as “Travelers” and “Beyond.” His career has included a range of dramatic and action-centric performances, earning him recognition within the Canadian entertainment industry.
