Virginia Democratic Leader Pushes Bizarre False Claim About Suspected Kirk Shooter

Virginia House Speaker Criticizes Governor Over School Board Controversy

Virginia House Speaker Don Scott has taken aim at Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin, responding to the governor’s remarks regarding school board members backing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger.

Dot Hefron, a member of the Chesterfield Board of Education, recently got into hot water after posting a controversial message on Instagram related to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. Hefron claimed she made the post before realizing Kirk had died, and amidst backlash, she announced plans to resign effective December 31. This drama was first reported by Axios, which noted that her resignation was accepted by the Education Committee.

Youngkin criticized Spanberger for not condemning her supporters. In a social media post, he pointed out that during a time of extreme left rhetoric, Spanberger failed to take a stand. He seemed to question her moderation, stating, “When faced with the extreme left of her party cheering for political assassination, she was not moderate, not moderate.” Youngkin also noted that Spanberger has been silent on Hefron’s situation.

In response to Youngkin’s comments, Scott emphasized the inconsistency in his outrage. He accused a GOP member of the Virginia House of Delegates of making a false claim about Democrats being responsible for Kirk’s death, saying that Youngkin chose to remain silent rather than address the inaccuracies.

Scott pointedly remarked, “Don’t spare us the selective anger of the sanctuary. You should be ashamed of yourself. When a sitting GOP member…said, ‘A Democrat killed Charlie Kirk,’ you said nothing.” He expressed disbelief that the governor could overlook such blatant misinformation.

Interestingly, Republican gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears also weighed in, calling Spanberger weak for failing to distance herself from Hefron’s comments.

Scott’s criticisms connected to remarks made by Nick Freitas, a Republican representative in Virginia, who had previously stated that Kirk had been “murdered” by the left. Freitas reiterated that the left despised Kirk for his views.

New developments in this case indicate that Tyler Robinson, charged with fatally shooting Kirk, had communicated politically charged sentiments shortly before the incident, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding his actions.
