Virginia Democrats are pushing for expanded state-funded health insurance for the children of illegal immigrants, with a critical committee vote scheduled for Thursday.
The Senate bill, dubbed the “Cover All Kids” Act by its sponsors, would provide children of undocumented immigrants with access to a “state-funded comprehensive health insurance” program with eligibility requirements similar to state Medicaid programs. It is intended to.
This bill specifically targets individuals in the Commonwealth under the age of 19 who are not covered by group health insurance or insurance. It includes language that would expand access to children of undocumented immigrants, “but they will be eligible for medical assistance services based on their immigration status.”

“President Biden’s open borders policy has turned every state, including Virginia, into a border state,” Republican state Sen. Glenn Sturtevant told Fox News Digital. “Meanwhile, Virginia Democrats in Congress are doing everything they can to undermine legal immigration and encourage illegal immigration into the Commonwealth.”
“This Congress, Virginia Democrats introduced legislation that directly encourages illegal immigration,” Sturtevant said. “They want to give undocumented immigrants driver’s licenses that are valid for up to eight years. They are also currently working to divert limited financial resources from low-income Virginians to pay for medical care for undocumented immigrants. That would cost Virginia taxpayers more than $100 a million in the last decade alone. ”
“These bad policies not only jeopardize Virginia’s health care system, but also give illegal immigrants the green light to travel to Virginia for free schooling, driver’s licenses, and now free health care. “It creates a perverse incentive to deem it as unethical,” Sturtevant continued. “We have seen the chaos that sanctuary city policies have caused in places like Chicago and New York. We must uphold the rule of law in Virginia and ensure that Virginians come first. yeah.”

They also claim that children on Medicaid have better lives.
“Every child across the Commonwealth should have access to quality, comprehensive health care, regardless of income, immigration status, or background,” Virginia said. Senator Ghazala Hashmi, Here’s what the Democrat had to say about the effort: “We know that healthy childhoods lead to better health, education, and economic outcomes for children and their families.”
