Visitors report discovering a blade in a Nathan's Hot Dog at Coney Island: 'Still in shock'

Shocking Find at Nathan’s Hot Dog Stand

An Arizona family had a rather alarming experience at Nathan’s Hot Dog Stand in Coney Island. They reported discovering razor blades among the condiments, which could have led to a serious incident.

A video shared online captures the unsettling moment, showing a straight razor resting in a mix of onions and mustard beside a mostly eaten hot dog.

Abby, the woman who shared the story, was quite shaken. “We’re still in shock. They found a knife in the hot dog, but they insisted it didn’t come from them,” she recounted, highlighting her disbelief.

She took to TikTok to reveal the incident just two days after it happened. Abby and her family were on vacation in New York when they opted to visit Nathan’s, renowned for its annual hot dog eating contest.

Her husband bit down on what he thought was a tough onion. To their horror, it turned out to be a knife hidden in the food. After realizing what had happened, they quickly informed a staff member.

When Abby approached the store manager, his response was troubling. He claimed the razor did not originate from their kitchen. Apparently, the frankfurter was said to have come from a different Nathan’s location, though the manager did concede that the blade might have originated from the onion.

Despite the manager’s reassurances, the encounter left Abby and her family deeply unsettled. She expressed her frustration, stating, “He didn’t even say he was sorry.”

In response to the complaint, the city’s health department confirmed they were looking into the matter after receiving a tip. If the family’s claims hold any truth, it would indeed raise concerns about safety at a venue that recently earned an ‘A’ grade during its inspection.

However, Nathan’s has a history of violations, with reports from July 2024 showing over 50 points for various issues, including rodent problems and improper food storage. As of now, representatives for Nathan’s parent company, Smithfield Foods, have not provided any comments regarding the incident.
