Guerrero Jr. Emotional After Dodgers’ World Series Win
During Game 7 of the World Series, Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was deeply affected after the Los Angeles Dodgers secured their victory with a critical double play in the 11th inning.
Cameras caught Guerrero with tears in his eyes as he watched the Dodgers celebrate their triumph on the field. The pivotal moment came when Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit a solo home run off pitcher Shane Bieber, leading to the Dodgers’ win.
Guerrero, who might have been a candidate for World Series MVP, had a challenging game, finishing one for five at-bats. In the bottom of the ninth, he nearly produced a walk-off home run but ended up hitting a long fly ball that fell short. He managed to hit a double in the 11th inning, though.
After the game, he expressed pride in his team despite the loss. “I’m very, very proud of my team,” he told reporters through an interpreter. “Obviously we didn’t finish the way we wanted. We have lost a battle, but we have not yet lost the war.”
Guerrero made some notable defensive plays throughout the game. He also remarked on his desire to continue playing alongside Bo Bichette, who—despite facing challenges—hit an impressive three-run homer earlier in the game, giving the Blue Jays an initial lead.
Heading into the 2025 season, Guerrero’s future with the Blue Jays was uncertain. He had hinted at possibly leaving Toronto but later signed a significant contract extension, reportedly worth $500 million for 14 years, commencing in 2026.
He has been an All-Star for five consecutive years, showcasing his talent with 23 home runs, 84 RBIs, and a batting average of .292 this past season.
