Voodoo King removes potential 'Mamdani curse' from MSG after mayor suggests attending Game 1 – and Knicks achieve a surprising victory

Voodoo Ritual Averts Curse for Knicks

He really worked some magic!

The Voodoo King stepped in right before the Knicks pulled off a thrilling comeback victory on Tuesday night, all to ease fans’ worries that Mayor Zoran Mandani might bring the so-called “Mambino Curse” to Madison Square Garden.

Michael Washington, a 46-year-old who goes by Tata Tilk, arrived just in time, about an hour before game time for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He showed up to perform a Palo Mayombe spell.

“Mayor Mamdani orders no more spells on any team or anyone who stands in the way of its success. I am here to protect the Knicks from his benevolent respect,” Washington chanted outside the arena, and it seems, well, it might have worked, as the Knicks managed to secure a miraculous win against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Interestingly, he was called to MSG after hints from Hitzner mentioned that the mayor might get involved in the game earlier in the day.

“It’s been an unbelievable run. I’m just holding out hope, like every other New Yorker. Maybe I’ll get there, we’ll see, but I’ll definitely be watching,” Mamdani had said at an unrelated press conference.

His comments made fans a bit anxious since a hug shared with the Mets was blamed for the team’s long losing streak, which people dubbed the “Mambino curse.”

The “King of Voodoo” arrived with cauldrons full of “secret” spiritual items—bones and even meteorites—prompting quite a stir.

Washington expressed that Mamdani should steer clear of the Knicks, claiming he’s shown he can curse New York sports teams. “He basically demonstrates the magical abilities he has by cursing multiple individuals at the same time, like an entire team, or various opponents,” Washington explained.

“It was basically a spell to keep Mamdani from cursing the Knicks. We were really worried he might show up tonight and do something disastrous, so I put a ritual together,” he elaborated. “He won’t be able to curse the Knicks, so Mambino won’t be affecting this game.”

And maybe it all worked.

The Knicks managed to claw back from a daunting 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter, winning 115-104 over the Cavaliers.

This comeback marked the largest for a conference finals game since 1997. According to the NBA, the last major fourth-quarter comeback that resulted in a playoff win was a 24-point rally by the Clippers against the Grizzlies in the first round of the 2012 playoffs.

Kareem “Reemo Mealak” Tyson, also 46, expressed gratitude to the Voodoo King for canceling out the “socialist sorcery” before this monumental win. “Listen, Mamdani, you’re doing a great job. But you’ve got to respect our flow. I know what you’ve done with the other orange and blue, but come on, that’s not cool,” he said. Tyson, who is known on social media, added, “Thank you for everything you’ve ever done to protect us.”

Meanwhile, a group of friends, including Nick Ellard, James Questell, and Aidan Jordan, gathered outside the venue to catch the game, sharing their thoughts about Mamdani’s supposed curse. Jordan, a 20-year-old student from Long Island, remarked, “I want him to stay away from the team as much as he can.”

Ellard, also 20, chimed in, “Please don’t hug anyone. He should pay for everyone’s water!”
