Vice President J.D. Vance Appears on Father’s Day Podcast

Vice President J.D. Vance participated in a special Father’s Day episode of a new podcast with his wife, Usha Vance, as reported by The Daily Caller.

The podcast, titled “Storytime With the Second Lady,” features Usha reading stories, often accompanied by a special guest. J.D. Vance joined the episode to discuss his responsibilities, his children’s reading habits, and to share his take on “Winnie the Pooh.” This episode is set to be released on Sunday morning.

Vance elaborated on his role in the podcast, stating, “I’m fortunate enough to serve under a president who gives us a lot of responsibility. So we have a lot of work to do. One of my duties is breaking ties in the Senate if there’s a 50-50 vote.” He went on to speak about his roles in diplomacy, mentioning meetings with foreign leaders—sometimes with his family by his side—navigating differences in opinions between countries.

In the conversation, Vance and his younger daughter shared insights on his reading habits with their children, noting how some kids have started reading to him instead.

“It’s wonderful to teach them to read, but the more they learn, the less they seem to want to be read to,” he said, reflecting on a familiar parental challenge.

Usha chimed in, joking, “Luckily, you’ll have a new baby to read to. You still have years ahead, don’t you?”

Vance lightheartedly replied, “Yes, I wanted a fourth child because I wasn’t ready for them to outgrow the baby stage.” He then recounted the story of Winnie the Pooh and mentioned that the original stuffed animal is displayed in the U.S.

The podcast initiative, which launched in March, featured Usha reading Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.” This effort aims to boost children’s literacy and foster a love of reading nationwide.

Recently, Usha Vance announced a summer reading challenge that attracted tens of thousands of participants from every state. She emphasized, “Reading for fun at home enhances literacy and classroom skills, opening up a world of opportunities for children.” The podcast aims to spotlight guests who can share stories and help combat declining literacy rates among kids.
