Vulnerable Dem senator hit with immigration ad tying his policies to his ‘new friend’ Kamala Harris

First appeared on FOX: Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, considered the weakest senator up for reelection, has faced a new ad from his opponent linking him to Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

“I love Senator Kamala Harris for so many reasons,” Brown says at the start of the video. The new ad was released on Wednesday. From Ohio Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno.

“Sherrod Brown has found a new friend,” the ad’s narrator says, “and like his old friend Joe Biden, Kamala Harris doesn’t care about the border crisis.”

The ad then shows Harris saying, “The border is secure.”

Senator Sherrod Brown called on President Biden to step down and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

“Sherrod Brown agrees,” the ad’s narrator says, before clips of Brown saying, “The border is not an emergency.”

The ad emphasizes that Brown votes with Harris and Biden 99% of the time.

“Sherrod Brown and Kamala Harris are new friends, but the same old radical policies,” the ad concludes.

“Kamala Harris is even more radical than Joe Biden, and Sherrod Brown supports her 100 percent,” Moreno’s communications director, Reagan McCarthy, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“As ‘Border Czar,’ Harris oversaw the deadliest border invasion in history, while Brown helped enact the most liberal policies in American history. In November, Ohioans will reject Harris and remove Brown from office.”

“While Bernie Moreno opposed the strongest border deal in decades, Sherrod voted for the deal and worked with Republicans to successfully pass legislation to stop fentanyl from entering our southern border by cracking down on Chinese chemical suppliers and Mexican drug cartels,” a Brown campaign spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Bernie Moreno and his special interests are attacking him because they know that Sherrod always does what’s right for Ohio, while Moreno only looks out for his own interests.”

Republicans see the race between Moreno and Brown as one of their best chances to retake control of the Senate in November in a state that Trump won by 8 points in 2020, and the race between them is expected to be close.

The Cook Political Report rates the race as a “50-50” chance.
