Former President Donald Trump is a stronger candidate for defending democracy. The Washington Post Polls on Wednesday showed weakening support for Biden’s campaign’s claims of reelection.
Polls in six battleground states that President Joe Biden won in 2020 show that voters believe Trump is a better defender of democracy than Biden, beating the incumbent president by 11 points.
“For each of the following, which candidate do you think would be better at addressing threats to democracy in the United States?” post A poll from George Mason University’s Schar School of Government asked respondents:
- Trump: 44 percent
- Biden: 33 percent
- Neither: 16 percent
- Both: 7 percent
poll sampling The survey of 3,515 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in April and May has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.

Some Democrats are concerned about Biden’s campaign strategy of appealing to democracy, especially after multiple legal cases were filed against Trump and a Manhattan jury returned his guilty verdict in May.
Polls consistently show inflation, immigration and crime as far greater concerns among voters – areas in which Mr Trump leads.
“For many of us watching from the outside, it’s unclear whether the president and his core team recognize how serious the situation is and whether they have a plan to resolve it. That’s frightening,” one president said. Democratic strategist close to the Biden campaign Said Axios.
