Warnock Criticizes HHS Director Kennedy as a Health Threat

Senator Rafael Warnock (D-Ga.) criticized Health and Human Services Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thursday, labeling him as “the biggest threat to American health.”

“It’s ironic, really, that the greatest danger to our citizens’ health comes from the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. We really should expect a commitment to ensuring the safety of the people from our leaders,” Warnock stated.

“Kennedy poses a serious risk to our well-being and must be removed from his position. It shouldn’t take so long for this to happen,” the Georgia Democrat emphasized.

Warnock’s comments were made during a heated Senate hearing where he reiterated his concerns about Kennedy’s impact on public health.

In response, Kennedy defended his tenure as health secretary during the session, addressing the criticisms specific to the recent upheaval at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), located in Warnock’s district, particularly surrounding changes in vaccine policies.

Throughout the nearly three-hour hearing, Kennedy continued to spread misinformation about vaccines while outlining his ideas for reforming the CDC.

“Honestly, I’m at my limit. Secretary Kennedy should be dismissed immediately. He’s jeopardizing the management of serious illnesses like measles and Ebola. This can have dire consequences,” Warnock expressed in a social media post on platform x.

Following the hearing, members of the Trump administration quickly came to Kennedy’s defense. Vice President Vance remarked that the senator is “full of it; everyone knows that” in response to the HHS secretary facing criticism.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt also supported Kennedy, stating on x that he “is facing backlash because he’s addressing important issues.”

Leavitt added, “The Trump administration is focusing on the root causes of chronic illnesses, promoting government transparency, and upholding scientific integrity. It’s only Democrats who would attack such a sensible approach.”

Comments from HHS have been sought but are yet to be received.
