Last Monday, U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents executed a raid on the Washington, D.C. residence of Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota. They carried a judicial warrant with them.
In response, Omar’s supporters decried the action, claiming it was simply political retribution from President Trump. The specifics of the agents’ affidavit supporting the warrant remain unknown, but it’s reasonable to suggest that their accusations lack credibility.
It’s possible that Omar and others could soon face federal indictments, perhaps around Christmas time.
FEDERAL AGENTS RAID ILHAN OMAR’S DC HOME AMID IMMIGRATION FRAUD INVESTIGATION
The Fourth Amendment prevents judges from issuing warrants without probable cause. U.S. Magistrate Judge Matthew Sharbaugh, who was on duty when the raid took place, is said to have signed the warrant for Omar’s home. This indicates that Judge Sharbaugh found sufficient evidence suggesting at least one federal crime could be linked to the location.
Precedents established in cases like United States v. Leon (1984) mandate that issuing judges remain neutral and detached. Yet, Judge Sharbaugh’s background suggests a bias against the Trump Justice Department; before taking the bench, he contributed to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. Moreover, he clerked for Judge Robert Wilkins, an Obama appointee, on two occasions. Wilkins was appointed during a period when former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pushed through several Democratic judges before Republicans gained control.
Omar’s associates in Congress argue that the actions are politically motivated due to the looming midterm elections. Notable figures among them include Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamie Raskin, and Rashida Tlaib.
But, wait. Are these congresspeople suggesting that Judge Sharbaugh, an appointed official, is part of a conspiracy? Are they implying he holds biases against Omar?
DEMOCRATS HAVE ‘DIRTY HANDS’ OVER COMPLAINTS ABOUT OMAR RAID WEEKS BEFORE ELECTION, EX-PROSECUTOR SAYS
If that’s the case, it’s a ludicrous assertion. There’s ample evidence indicating Judge Sharbaugh is far from being a puppet of the Trump administration. The judges who appointed him are mostly left-leaning, with many being Obama or Biden appointees.
The situation seems dire for Democrats. Judge Sharbaugh’s apparent decision to sign that warrant strongly suggests that the case has substantial backing. This isn’t some political stunt.
FEDERAL AGENTS SEIZE PHONE OF REP ILHAN OMAR IN RAID TIED TO IMMIGRATION FRAUD PROBE
The government is acting on probable cause regarding at least one federal crime, although the details of the crime remain sealed. Reports suggest that some of Omar’s family members have received subpoenas.
This could potentially relate to immigration fraud.
ILHAN OMAR SHOULD BE JAILED, DEPORTED IF CITIZENSHIP FRAUD PROVEN, TOP HOUSE REPUBLICAN SAYS
Omar has claimed she was just 17 years old when she supposedly became an American citizen through derivative naturalization, a process following her father’s citizenship. This should technically qualify her, based on immigration laws.
However, two significant issues cast doubt on her citizenship status.
ILHAN OMAR’S TURBULENT WEEK EXPLAINED: THE DUELING PROBES THAT THREW THE SOMALI-BORN PROGRESSIVE INTO CHAOS
First, there are accusations that her father was a Somali warlord, which raises questions about the legitimacy of his citizenship. Reports indicate no official records verifying his status.
Second, reportedly, Omar’s staff altered her date of birth in her biography in 2019. According to the Washington Post, Omar’s team claimed it was part of an effort to correct discrepancies about her birth year across various sources. Under the original birth date, she would have been 18 when she reportedly gained citizenship, disqualifying her from being eligible via derivative naturalization.
ILHAN OMAR RAID SPARKS OMINOUS PREDICTION FROM WATCHDOG: ‘THEY PROBABLY GOT THE GOODS’
The U.S. Constitution outlines that a person must be a citizen for seven years to serve in the House of Representatives. If these allegations prove true, Omar’s citizenship could very well be fraudulent, thus rendering her ineligible for her congressional role.
In light of the investigations by the DOJ and DHS, immediate scrutiny by the U.S. House of Representatives is essential. If it turns out Omar isn’t a U.S. citizen, she should be expelled.
Furthermore, federal law allows for the denaturalization of individuals who lied to obtain their citizenship. There is no statute of limitations on this, as seen in cases against former Nazis who were de-naturalized decades after lying about their past to gain refuge.
So, it’s clear; it can be done again.
Additionally, there are troubling aspects concerning Omar’s marriage in 2009 to a man alleged to be her brother. If true, this could imply that they engaged in a scheme to facilitate his pathway to citizenship, which would amount to immigration fraud. Omar and this individual could potentially face severe legal consequences.
There’s even more to consider, judging by her recent financial disclosures that every congress member must submit. One year, her assets were modest, but the following year, she declared a staggering $30 million— a striking contrast. Once this was made public, she amended her disclosures, returning to modest assets without providing any explanation. It raises suspicions that the government might be searching for proof of financial misconduct. If allegations regarding fraudulent activities linked to Minnesota’s food assistance and other welfare programs gain traction, RICO charges could be on the table.
The narrative claiming the government is targeting Omar to meddle in the elections, or due to her outspoken criticism toward President Trump is implausible. Judge Sharbaugh, a known prior donor to Hillary Clinton, represents a left-leaning inclination. It strains credulity to believe he would collaborate with a scheme devised by the Trump administration.
The simplest conclusion? The federal government has substantial evidence of federal crimes—evidence so compelling that it cannot be ignored, even by a judge with liberal leanings. Securing a judge’s approval for a home raid, especially against an active member of Congress who enjoys constitutional protections, is no small feat. And this unfolded a mere three weeks prior to the midterm elections, executed by a Democrat judge against a prominent Democratic figure.

The evidence pointing against Omar—and likely others—must indeed be quite strong. Omar should probably prepare for an indictment before Christmas.
