A diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) program for emergency responders in Washington has been suspended after employee backlash, saying it could jeopardize professional certifications.

“This initiative was in response to state mandates requiring implicit bias and health disparities training for health care workers,” a conservative commentator learned after speaking with an anonymous employee.

“Critics, including several King County firefighters, took issue with the political underpinnings of the training and its possible violation of personal beliefs, particularly regarding gender identity,” Lantz continued. “Failures in training can jeopardize participants’ paramedic qualifications and require an acknowledgment of the unrelenting gender and inherent racial bias among white staff.”

DEI training reportedly specifically instructed white firefighters and paramedics to check their own racism.

“The training, titled ‘Stronger Together: An Introduction to Anti-Racism and Gender Inclusion,’ was intended to instill empathy, recognition and dignity in patient care, but its implementation sparked a backlash.” said Lantz. “It suggested that white staff inherently held ‘racist or sexist views’ and had caused ‘racial harm at some point.’ There’s no way you’re not a believer.”

The program included videos, tests, and quizzes promoting CRT (Critical Race Theory) and caused an uproar among trainees.

“After receiving feedback from many of our members who have expressed concerns about testing, and after consulting with multiple fire chiefs who share the concerns of their respective teams, we are pleased to announce that through the SKCFTC (South King County Fire Training Consortium) We have jointly decided to cancel this exercise,” Renton Fire said. Chief Steve Heitman wrote in an email.

The chief said he “wholeheartedly” supports DEI training, but worries that people will have to “compromise” their personal beliefs to pass.

“What bothers me are certain exam questions that may force members to compromise their personal beliefs and values in order to pass paramedic recertification requirements,” Heitman said. Told. “This potential conflict can place members in the difficult position of choosing between their deeply held beliefs and their professional roles as firefighters/paramedics.”

King County firefighters who spoke with Lantz also argued that the proposed DEI training is just the latest example of county employees being exposed to woke ideology.

“King County was doing this ‘anti-racism’ crap long before Ibram x Kendi came along,” the firefighter said.

“We have never had a problem or problem providing care to people from different backgrounds in an emergency situation. When you call 911, everyone gets the same response based on the reason they called. You can take it,” he added.
