Washington Huskies Coach Steve Belichick Absolutely Roasts His Legendary Father With Perfect Zinger

According to Alex Cutson of Huskies Wire, Stephen Belichick, the Washington Huskies’ new defensive coordinator and the son of legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick, spoke out against his father during a media session on Wednesday. He made a cheerful remark.

“We definitely have similarities. I have a job and he doesn’t.”

Yo! The poor guy has a family, don’t do that to him!

In all seriousness, this big burn was clearly a kind joke, but now that arguably (and frankly, it shouldn’t even be up for debate) the greatest coach in NFL history is gone. Steve at least finished with a heartwarming comment: “I respect my dad. He’s a mentor to me.”

But he also established that he didn’t want to live in his father’s shadow forever.

“But I am me, so like B.C. [offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll] He said he’s excited to get out on the field and work with them, work with kids and recruit kids. He’s just… he’s not trying to be him, he’s just being himself. ”

Washington hired Belichick is set to take over as defensive coordinator in February, and the former Patriots assistant has already been talked about.

Offensive opponent Brennan Carroll’s father also looms large. Brennan’s father, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, resigned from his longtime position with the Seahawks after the team fired Brennan in January.

Together, young Belichick and Carroll are trying to step out of their father’s shadow and make a name for themselves. If their football acumen is only half as good as their wits, that shouldn’t be a problem at all.
