Washington State University instructor allegedly assaulted student in Trump hat

A Washington State University instructor was arrested in February when he allegedly assaulted a student wearing a red “recover America” ​​hat from President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, according to a police report obtained by Fox News Digital.

School instructor Patrick Mahoney reportedly passed college student Jay Sani just before 11pm on February 28th, grabbed Sani’s hat and threw it into the road.

According to the report, Mahoney told Sani “Go Get It, b —-“.

Sani told officers he would walk to a restaurant just off the campus property and return a food order that was incorrectly prepared when he encountered Mahoney.

Sani says that when he tried to protect himself, the second man, later identified as Gerald Hoff, “grabbed Sani and took him to the ground.”

Sani accused Mahoney of grabbing her head and slamming her onto the ground. He also said he had lacerated his elbow and bruise.

The police report said Mahoney later told officers that he punched Sani with his chin while he was on the ground. Hof said he punched Sani in his leg with his closed fist.

Witnesses told police he saw one man wearing a Trump hat and thrust another man out, throwing food in his face and then shoving it into the ground.

Speaking to Sani after the incident, Pullman police officers immediately began their investigation. The officers quickly found both Mahoney and Hoff in downtown Pullman.

The report says Mahoney said he told officers he saw “Olboy.”

Mahony continued: “You want to wear a hat, hey, there’s probably a price to pay.”

When Sani first reported the alleged attack to officers, he said he understood Red Trump would “incite certain emotions in people,” the report said. The officer responded to Sani, saying, “I told him I should wear whatever he wanted.”

Mahoney told the officers that the way he acted towards Sani is “the same way that people approach him and ruin him about his political beliefs.”

When officers asked Mahoney if he had done it before the argument, Mahoney said “No.”

Mahoney and Hoff were both arrested and charged with four-degree assault. The man was later released.

Mahoney is a WSU instructor and doctoral student in the Faculty of Politics, Philosophy and Public Relations. Daily Evergreen reported. The outlet said Mahoney was suspended and excluded from all classes he taught at the university before.

The university did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Sani I wrote it on a Facebook post In March, he wanted to share his story for “how toxic the left is.”

“To make it clear, I hate to say this, but I do. [sic] Brown, but forget it,” he wrote. “I’m an engineering student who wants to get a degree and go ahead. So what if I like someone I don’t like? We have a first amendment. [sic] It’s not okay just because you don’t like that person, I should be attacked for it. You had the opportunity to kick him out in November, but you didn’t. ”
