Watch live: Harris campaigns in swing state Michigan

Vice President Harris is scheduled to visit the Great Lakes state on Friday to address voters in Detroit.

Her visit to the battleground state of Michigan, known by many as the birthplace of organized labor, was a joint effort between the International Longshoremen's Association union and the United Maritime Alliance, a trade group that operates ports on the East Coast and Mexico's Gulf Coast. This took place the day after a tentative agreement was reached. 2 days strike.

Harris, like President Biden, has made support for labor unions a central part of her campaign. The vice president has received support from major labor organizations including the American Federation of Teachers, the 700,000-member American Federation of Communications Workers, and the AFL-CIO.

Harris and her Republican opponent, former President Trump, are neck and neck in Michigan, according to Hill/Decision Desk polls. The vice president's approval rating is 48.3%, with President Trump's approval rating at 48.1%.

The vice president will also campaign in Flint, Michigan, on Friday night.

Harris is scheduled to speak at 1:50 p.m. EDT.
