Watch live: Republican National Convention

Despite the assassination attempt on former President Trump on Saturday, the Republican National Convention will begin as scheduled in Milwaukee on Monday afternoon.

In addition to voting on the Republican nomination, Trump is set to nominate his running mate on the party’s first day in office.

Following opening remarks from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) just before 3 p.m. EDT, party delegates will formally vote to nominate Trump for the White House.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT, the following Republican speakers are scheduled to voice their support for the former president and likely the next president:
