Watch – Marsha Blackburn Calls Out Secret Service Director at RNC

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) and criticized Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle for failing to protect former President Trump from last week’s assassination attempt.

In a video later published online, Blackburn and Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) surrounded Cheatle and grilled him about the security failures that led to last Saturday’s assassination attempt.

“I have asked for your resignation,” Barrasso said, confronting Cheatle, “so either resign tonight or begin answering our questions now about the death threats against President Trump and allowing him on stage in Pennsylvania at a time when you were already being warned.”

As The BBC notedLawmakers said they were told by law enforcement officials that the would-be assassin had been spotted by the Secret Service less than an hour before the shooting began and was marked as a “suspicious person,” but that he “disappeared into the crowd.”

During a closed-door briefing for House and Senate members on Wednesday, law enforcement officials, including from the Secret Service, shared limited new information about security and the man who opened fire at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming said the Secret Service told him they had spotted the attacker an hour before the attack but then lost sight of him.

During the Republican National Convention speech, Marsha Blackburn continually questioned Cheatle about why the Secret Service allowed the president on stage despite suspicious behavior.

“I don’t think this is the place to discuss this,” Cheatle said, adding that he wanted to focus on the people who work to keep the Republican National Committee safe.

After Cheatle left, Blackburn and others continued to press her for answers.

Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was called We call for Kimberly Cheatle to resign. She has not yet indicated she intends to resign.

Marsha Blackburn slammed Cheatle after he spoke in an interview with Breitbart News about his plans to help former President Donald Trump get re-elected.
