Amazon Revives “Thank My Driver” Program
The holiday season is officially here. Amazon has reintroduced its annual “Thank My Driver” initiative, allowing customers to send a complimentary $5 holiday tip to their delivery drivers.
For those with Alexa-enabled devices, like the Echo speaker, all it takes is a voice command: just say “thank you, driver” to show appreciation.
If you don’t have an Alexa device, you can still participate by visiting the Amazon app or website and searching for “Thanks Drivers.”
This initiative, which began last Wednesday and is fully sponsored by Amazon, will remain active until 2 million “thank yous” are reached. Each customer can express gratitude only once per delivery.
In a blog entry, Amazon expressed its desire to connect customers with the drivers who work hard for them every day, emphasizing their appreciation for the drivers’ efforts.
This feature first debuted during the 2022 holiday season and comes amid Amazon’s plan to lay off 30,000 workers this year.
Alongside the tipping program, Amazon is also selecting winners daily—1,000 top delivery drivers, 200 delivery partners, and 50 warehouse workers—who can win $100 in prizes through December 31st.
Amazon Prime offers a paid membership option, giving access to free shipping and exclusive deals, such as those during Prime Week in the summer and Prime Big Deal Days in October.
Interested customers can start with a 30-day free trial, with the membership costing $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. Opting for the yearly plan saves around $40.
Additionally, there is a discounted Prime membership available for young adults aged 18-24 and individuals receiving government assistance, including SNAP and Medicaid.
