The Wimbledon semi-finals are set to kick off on July 10th, featuring two matches in the women’s singles bracket.
This year has been quite remarkable for the women’s singles at Wimbledon. In a surprising twist, three of the top five seeds fell in the opening rounds, a rare occurrence in the open era that began in 1968. Now, only one of those top seeds remains in the competition.
In one of the semi-finals, Aryna Sabalenka will go up against Amanda Anisimova from the U.S. If Anisimova wins, she could become the first American woman to reach the Wimbledon finals since Serena Williams did so back in 2019.
The other match features Swiss players Belinda Bencic and Iga Świątek, who is currently seeded eighth. This is a significant moment for Bencic, as she becomes the first Swiss woman to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals since 1998. Świątek, a five-time Grand Slam champion, is also making her debut in a Wimbledon semi-final.
Wimbledon TV Schedule for July 10th:
- No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka vs. No. 13 Amanda Anisimova – 8:30am (ESPN)
- Belinda Bencic vs. No. 8 Iga Świątek – 10am (ESPN)
