The celebratory atmosphere surrounding the NBA Championship is still lively, especially as the New York Knicks engage in a beloved tradition unique to New York City for the very first time.
A ticker tape parade to honor the championship winners is set to take place at the famous Canyon of Heroes downtown, a location that has previously hosted many victorious teams. It might even turn out to be one of the largest parades New York City has ever seen.
Mayor Zoran Mamdani revealed the parade details shortly after Game 5 concluded on Saturday. In a follow-up statement, he expressed, “We have dreamed of this moment for generations. This Thursday, our city will rise to the occasion.”
- when: June 18th at 10am (Eastern Standard Time)
- where: Canyon of Heroes (New York, NY)
- channel: CBS, NBC, FOX 5, ABC7 New York

Weather-wise, it looks like a sunny, slightly humid day as the team rides down Broadway on floats. In a special twist, Mitchell Robinson will be cruising on custom-built trucks. Along with the championship squad and coaching staff, notable Knicks legends like Walt “Clyde” Frazier and Patrick Ewing will also make appearances.
Expect to see familiar faces like Spike Lee and Ben Stiller, who recently confirmed plans to collaborate with HBO on a documentary about this season.
Post-parade, the team will be presented with the keys to the city by Mayor Mamdani in a ceremony at City Hall, officiated by Knicks commentator Mike Breen. Moreover, Alicia Keys will perform “Empire State of Mind” to wrap things up.
