Ilya Marnin is set to take the ice today after a standout performance in Sunday’s figure skating team event.
Even though he had a shaky start during the free skate, Marnin managed to pull off five quads along with a backflip. His score of 200 points was sufficient to help Team USA secure its second consecutive team title. Now, he gears up for his pursuit of an individual Olympic medal. He’s undefeated in his last 14 full competitions and is regarded as a strong contender for gold.
“I think that’s just a portion, maybe 50 percent, of my potential,” Marnin reflected after his first event on Saturday.
Alongside Marnin, Andrew Tolgashev and Maxim Naumov, who are the No. 2 and No. 3 men’s singles skaters for Team USA, will be making their Olympic debuts.
The men’s short program is scheduled for today, February 10th, at 12:15 PM ET, held at the Milan Ice Skating Arena.

How to watch Olympic figure skating for free
If cable isn’t an option for you, there are live TV streaming services available that let you watch the Olympics for free. Personally, I find DIRECTV to be a great choice; they offer a 5-day free trial and include both USA Network and NBC in their plans, starting at $69.99 per month.
With a subscription, you can catch every moment of the Olympics. Alternatively, there’s Peacock, which starts at $10.99 per month.
