Knicks in Strong Position as They Face Magic
The New York Knicks have been looking good lately.
After a rocky start to the 2025-26 season with a 2-3 record, Jalen Brunson and the team have hit their stride, recently pulling off five consecutive wins against the Bulls, Wizards, Timberwolves, Nets, and Grizzlies. They’ve climbed to second place in the tough Eastern Conference.
Tonight, they are set to meet Paolo Banchero’s Orlando Magic, who currently sit at 5-6, at Madison Square Garden. This matchup marks the first of three encounters between the teams this season.
Leading up to the game, reports suggest that Banchero and his head coach Jamal Mosley are quite upset, with one insider noting that “Mosley is avoiding eye contact when addressing the team.”
A source indicated to RG Grant Afseth, “This is what occurs when a team loses a coach in the locker room. He needs to grasp this quickly. The situation is shifting from a promising young team to a potential disappointment that could end with the coach’s dismissal.”
In contrast, the Knicks have been thriving, particularly excelling in the third quarter. According to the Post, their net rating in that quarter for the last four games has been 57.5 points, the best in the NBA.
Jalen Brunson commented after the Knicks’ decisive 134-98 win over the Nets, “I think we’re maturing as a team. The third quarter was definitely a challenge last year, especially in the playoffs. It starts with little things.”
