The journey toward the World Series continues tonight, October 12th, with Game 1 of the American League Championship Series featuring the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners.
The Blue Jays secured their spot in the ALCS last week, defeating the New York Yankees 5-2 in Game 4 of the ALDS. It’s been a while; their last appearance in the ALCS was in 2016.
For the Mariners, making it to this stage wasn’t easy. They battled through five games and, after being tied 2-2 at the end of the ninth inning in Game 5, they managed to outlast the Detroit Tigers in the 15th inning thanks to Jorge Polanco’s walk-off home run. It’s worth noting, though, that they haven’t been to the ALCS since 2001.
