The NHL is making its return after the Olympic break, and the Rangers are ready to hit the ice tonight. Their lineup features two players who recently earned Olympic gold medals.
JT Miller and Vincent Trocheck were key members of the U.S. men’s hockey team that triumphed over Canada for the gold medal on February 22. Adding to the significance, Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan and assistant coach David Quinn were also part of the coaching staff for Team USA.
In tonight’s matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Rangers will have a major advantage with the return of two star players from injured reserve. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin and defenseman Adam Fox have been out due to lower-body injuries sustained during a game against the Blueshirts on January 5.
“I think this is a significant advantage for us,” Sullivan commented. “Players of their caliber are tough to replace, so having them back gives everyone on the team a boost in confidence.”
