McIlroy currently has a six-shot lead over Sam Burns and Patrick Reed, who are tied for second place at six under.
Scottie Scheffler, a two-time Masters champion and ranked world No. 1, managed to survive the cut, which reduced the field from 91 to 54 strokes. However, he finds himself 12 strokes behind the leader.
